For the ease of deciding which cards you should use for your payment, I have created a 4 questions flowchart that you should ask yourself before making the purchase which will guide you to the optimal card.
1) Is the transaction an overseas foreign currency transaction?
From now till 29 February 2020
- OCBC 90°N Mastercard: Earn 4 miles per SGD for transactions in foreign currency with no cap.
After 29 February 2020
- If spending per statement month is between S$1000 to S$2000 foreign currency equivalent, UOB Visa Signature will earn you 4 miles per SGD
- If spending is below S$1,000 or more than S$2,000, allocate the first S$2,000 to UOB Visa Signature before charging the excess to BOC Elite World MasterCard
2) Is it an Airfare or Online Transaction?
Airfare
OCBC 90°N Mastercard: Earn 4 miles per SGD for purchases relating to airfares purchased on Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Scoot, Air Asia and Jetstar website, with no earning caps from now till 29 February 2020.
Online (inclusive of Airfare)
For first S$2,000 of online spending: DBS Woman’s World MasterCard will earn 4 miles per SGD
For next S$1,000 of online spending: Citi Rewards Visa Signature will earn 4 miles per SGD
3) Is it a Contactless Transaction?
For the first S$1,000 of contactless spending: UOB Preferred Platinum Visa will earn 4 miles per SGD
4) Is it a Grab Wallet Top Up Transaction?
For the first S$200 of grab wallet top up per calendar month, Krisflyer Ascend American Express will earn 3.3 miles per SGD
If all questions return NO
You may then use your general spending card which is the BOC Elite World MasterCard or the UOB PRVI miles suite of cards
