Great Affordable Staycaytion Option with DoubleTree Johor Bahru
DoubleTree Johor Bahru is conveniently located across the Singapore – Johor Bahru causeway and is an affordable Hilton group hotel for weekend staycation. Here’s my review of DoubleTree Johor Bahru:
Location
DoubleTree Johor Bahru is located just within minutes from the Johor Bahru Custom Checkpoint. The Hotel is within walking distance to malls connected to Johor Bahru Custom checkpoint (e.g. City Square JB and Komtar JBCC).
This hotel makes good staycaytion option for its quality, affordability and proximity to the Singapore – Johor Bahru border.
Check in
This hotel is very popular with Singaporeans whom take weekend staycation trips across the border. As such, the hotel can be busy during weekends and public holidays.
There are usually 3 counters opened for check in during peak periods in the morning, afternoon and evenings. A separate priority check in queue is also available for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members.
The Lobby has a large comfortable holding area for guests. Perfect for those waiting for their transportation.
Rooms
There are 4 room categories available which ranges from Guest, Deluxe, Executive and Suites. For Guest, Deluxe and Executive rooms, the floor size of the rooms are essentially the same, at 31sqm (334 sqft). The only difference lies in their floor level where the Executive rooms occupy the higher floors while Deluxe and Guest rooms occupy the lower floors.
For this stay, I was upgraded to the One Bedroom Suite due to my Hilton Honors Diamond status.
King One Bedroom Suite
The suite room is large at 64 sqm (689 sqft). The living room is equipped with a Nespresso machine, large sofa and television. A welcome fruit basket and chocolates were also presented in the room.

Executive Lounge
Check in is also available at the executive lounge for guests whom have booked a room with Executive Lounge access or are Hilton Diamond members. However, you will need a key card to take the lift up from level 1 to the Executive Lounge area.
The lounge is decent in size. However, if the hotel is operating at full capacity, seats maybe limited during the evening cocktail session.
There is a telephone that is made available for local calls. An apple computer and a printer are also provided for use.
Breakfast at DoubleTree Johor Bahru Makan Kitchen
Breakfast is served at Makan Kitchen on the first floor of DoubleTree Johor Bahru. The variety is much more than the offerings at the Executive Lounge. However, breakfast area can get very crowded during weekend mornings. Here’s the Breakfast review of DoubleTree Johor Bahru.

Indian Food Selections
Food service at the Makan kitchen was top notch. The chef made an off menu paper prata to satisfy my craving upon request. Kudos to the chef!
Western Food Selections
Gym
Gym is decent sized and well equipped.
Pool
Pool is also decent in size though you would not be able to swim laps in. There are many sun chairs available for sun tanning.
Conclusion of DoubleTree Johor Bahru Review
DoubleTree Johor Bahru is conveniently located across the Singapore – Malaysia causeway and makes for a good weekend staycation option in Johor Bahru. Service staff is very friendly, accommodating and ensure all your needs are met.
