Dining on the 63rd floor of Republic Plaza. Enjoy great ambience at Ba Xian Chinese Restaurant Singapore. Here’s my review of Ba Xian Chinese Restaurant Singapore:

Location

Ba Xian Chinese restaurant is part of the Tower Club’s dining offering. The restaurant is located on the 63^rd floor of the Republic Plaza along Raffles Place. It takes about 25 minutes by car from Singapore Changi Airport.

Access to Tower Club

Paid Membership

Tower Club is a member’s only premier private club that occupies the top floors of Republic Plaza. There are 3 restaurants and a fitness centre. Access is via paid membership subscription which comes with an individual or corporate package.

Reciprocal Membership

Alternatively, American Express Platinum Card basic and supplementary cardholders are granted complimentary access to Tower’s Club restaurants and fitness centre as reciprocal member.

However, do note that there is an additional 10% reciprocal member surcharge being levied on dining, which is in addition to the 10% service charge and 7% GST.

American Express Dining Vouchers

American Express Dining Voucher

As part of the American Express card benefits, American Express Platinum Charge and Platinum Reserve cardholders would get a S$100 dining voucher at Tower Club. This is among the other vouchers cardholders would receive upon payment of the annual card membership fees.

Ba Xian Chinese restaurant is one of the eligible restaurants to utilise the S$100 dining voucher. The Saturday Half Price Dim Sum makes the voucher’s redemption even more worthwhile.

Reservations for Ba Xian Chinese Restaurant

Ba Xian Chinese restaurant does not take reservation for American Express voucher redemption. Reservation can only be made through the American Express concierge. Given the popularity of its Saturday half price Dim Sum, do cater some time before the voucher’s expiry date, as reservation would typically take a few months.

Ba Xian Chinese Restaurant Level 63 Dining

Ba Xian Chinese restaurant has an amazing view of the CBD and the sea. Service was also on point with regular refills of tea, changing of new tableware and setting of the table.

Saturday Half Price Dim Sum

The half price Dim Sum is also of great value with each portion coming in 3 Dim Sum pieces costing an average of S$4 or S$5.2 nett (inclusive of the 10% reciprocal member charge, 10% service charge and 7% GST). Some dishes were a hit while others were a miss in my opinion.

Must Try Items

Stir-Fried Carrot Cake with Prawns in XO sauce (generous XO sauce and dried shrimps)
Braised Beef Brisket and Tendons (flavourful broth and soft tendons)
Pork Congee with Century Egg and Dried Scallops (generous dried scallops)
Steamed Golden Har Kow (bouncy skin texture)
Black Sesame Ball (flavourful content)

The other Dim Sum dishes such as Steamed Chicken Siew Mai, Steamed BBQ Buns, Crispy Beancurd Skin Roll, Deep-Fried prawns and Yam Dumplings were good as well but not mind blowing.

While some Dim Sum dishes maybe a little disappointing in my opinion – Steamed Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (too dry), Baked Mini Egg Tartlets (not served hot), Crispy Spring Rolls (little filling), Steamed Cheong Fun (thick rice roll) and Deep-Fried Yam Paste Dumplings (fish cake like filling).

Dinner Menu

Ba Xian Chinese restaurant also provides a vantage point for watching the sun set as you dine. Would recommend to order the following dishes:

Deep Fried Eggplant with Pork Floss
Fried Yam Cubes
Eefu Noodles
Peking Duck

Dining ambience is definitely the key attraction for Ba Xian Chinese restaurant with great service and incredible view to look at.
